We are committed to increasing situational awareness and self-defense skills for firefighters and ems personnel.
With incidents of violence against first responders steadily rising, we have to expand our training to be able to stay safe and effective so we can provide the excellent service to the public that counts on us.
See the Services section for more detailed information.

My name is Ben Brown. I began as a deputy sheriff in Reno, NV in 1998. In 2001 I moved to the Reno Fire Department, where I worked 20 years as a professional firefighter. I've been teaching and training in martial arts since 1983. I earned a black belt in 1996 in a traditional martial art and have been training in jiu jitsu for 11 years. I earned my bjj black belt in April 2023. I have accumulated thousands of hours of teaching and training to include positions as a recruit academy instructor for the RFD, coaching high school sports, and consulting with college athletic teams. I earned a Master's Degree in coaching education from Ohio University in 2012.
I am passionate about teaching and training, and I am committed to making sure firefighters and ems personnel are as prepared as possible to deal with increased potential for violence in our profession.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our firefighting and ems community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference.
